Our school facilities
Hunter River High School is recognised as having some of the best facilities in the Hunter Region. Students benefit from:
- Classrooms that create a focused and supportive learning environment
- Technology-rich learning spaces with student devices and smartboards in every classroom
- Welcoming library for study, activities and learning. Including dedicated Senior Learning Area (SLA) for Year 12 students, along with a study area tailored for Year 11
- Spacious sports fields with cricket pitches, outdoor court and indoor basketball/netball court
- Fully equipped science laboratories for hands-on learning in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science
- Specialist creative spaces for visual arts, textiles, and dance, providing students with opportunities to develop their creativity and explore different mediums
- Music room featuring a soundproof recording studio, performance space, and professional sound deck equipment to support student creativity, music courses, and live rehearsal
- Commercial kitchen, providing a genuine industry-standard environment for Hospitality and Food Technology courses. A second brand new kitchen designed for students to learn practical, home-style cooking skills
- Two metals and engineering workshops: one specialising in metal fabrication and welding, and the other designed for precision machining
- Woodworking rooms, equipped with the latest tools and machinery to teach current building and construction techniques

Agricultural farm that supports animal care, sustainable practices, Primary Industries courses and students who wish to participate in our Cattle Show Team

Cultural Room where students can receive tutoring and mentoring support. We also have the 'Narralbaa Outdoor Learning Centre', where students can have lessons in a lovely outdoor environment.
Hunter River High School’s learning spaces are designed to support every student’s growth and success. Our facilities give our students real-world skills in settings that mirror industry standards, preparing them for further study, training, and employment pathways.
