Visual Arts

The Hunter River High School Visual Arts courses are designed to develop an understanding and an appreciation of other artist's work.  The course encourages exploration within the student's own art-making and to find inspiration for their work in the world that surrounds them.  Information on specific skills will be provided, however, an emphasis on experimentation with different media is encouraged.

The Junior course is structured to accomodate the completion of 100 hours in Year 8.  The Year 8 elective course builds on the depth of knowledge and art-making opportunities already experienced in Year 7.

Year 9 to 10 Visual Arts Elective course is offered in a flexible 100 or 200 hour course.  This course further builds an extensive Visual Arts knowledge base and allows for more opportunities to explore a variety of art forms.

The 200 hour Preliminary and HSC Visual Arts course sees students developing their own individual style and fostering their interests in their production and consumption of Visual Arts.  In this course we delve into a deeper understanding of the role of art, in all forms of media, in contemporary and historical cultures.
